Our “Sober by the Sea” community meet every week at The Ironworks in Southend-on-Sea to get together with other people in recovery.
Arrive at 10.30am for free refreshments in the main lounge. Then we’ll have an hour of activities, which will include meditation, music, art, poetry, guest speakers and more. Afterwards, there will be plenty of time to socialise with the group.
This week, we are joined by Maria Nayler who has been facilitating inspirational voice and singing workshops for over two decades and is dedicated to supporting people to find an authentic connection with their natural voice. She says:
“Singing is our birthright. We are all born singers. We are sound makers. We are vibration. We are resonant beings. Our voice gives us a direct and embodied experience of ourselves, allowing us to exist in the present moment”
Maria holds a nurturing and magical space, weaving together her love of music, people and the land with a lightness of spirit that invites us all to meet and welcome ourselves as we are. She has collected songs from many traditions and cultures, and teaches them in an easeful and embodied style, enabling anyone of any experience to feel the bliss of singing in harmony together.
This event is open to anybody in recovery but please register your interest in attending with Lisa by emailing her on lisa@essexrecoveryfoundation.org.
