Give back to the recovery community

Volunteers are absolutely essential to Essex Recovery Foundation’s mission

We are incredibly grateful to anybody who gives up their time to support our cause. Here are three reasons why our charity could not exist without the support of volunteers:

  • Essex Recovery Foundation is a charity with a growing recovery community that is connected, visible and empowered. Volunteers can help us to reach more people who could benefit from joining our community.

  • We are passionate about creating spaces for people in the recovery community to connect - and we want to create as many as possible so that nobody misses out. When volunteers give up their time to support our sessions, we are able to deliver so much more!

  • Volunteers can help us to challenge the stigma attached to addiction by sharing their own inspiring stories of strength, hope and resilience. By speaking openly about their experiences, we can make recovery more visible in Essex and give hope to people who may be struggling.

Volunteer roles

Outreach Volunteer

Our team of Outreach Volunteers help us to raise awareness of our charity and reach more people in recovery who need our support. They’ll attend community events, workshops and services to talk about Essex Recovery Foundation and the work we are doing for the recovery community in Essex.

Voices of Recovery

The Voices of Recovery team work together to build a range of opportunities for people to share their experiences, including podcasts, webinars, talks and marketing campaigns. Their aim is to make recovery more visible, change perceptions of addiction and provide hope to people who may be struggling.

Spaces Volunteer

Volunteers at our recovery spaces in Harlow, Basildon, Colchester, Chelmsford, Thurrock and Rayleigh support us to host warm and welcome environment where everybody feels included. Whether offering a listening ear or signposting people to local services, volunteers are central to the delivery of our recovery spaces.
