An update from SHARP Braintree & Wickford

Meet new members of the team

At SHARP Braintree we have two new staff members that have joined the team – Hayley Ward who joined us in September 2023, she is a qualified counsellor and having completed her degree she came on board and has now worked with two cohorts. Tracey Beynon joined us in December 2023, she had worked as a counsellor with us previously and has now returned and has got straight back into the swing of things with cohort 48.

Updates

SHARP Essex are running a family day with each cohort. Loved ones of clients are invited in on a Saturday as we recognise that addiction is a family disease and we like to support family members with understanding addiction and signpost them to the right support. We will be having Al-Anon come into our future Family Days which we know will be informative for those who often don’t realise that there is help out there for them too.

One thing we would like you to know about our service

SHARP has been offering a 9 week programme of day rehabilitation since 2013 in Braintree and since 2017 in Wickford. This means that a rehab programme has been open to service users in Essex that would not usually have the opportunity to access rehab due to financial constraints or family responsibilities. In total over 600 people have graduated since 2013.

Gratitude

SHARP Essex would like to say thank you to all their staff who consistently support, educate, motivate and inspire clients who come into the centre nervous and negatively impacted by addiction. Thank you for being a part of  ensuring that people graduate confident and hopeful ready to embark on their recovery journeys.

Wellbeing tip

There are numerous breathwork exercises on YouTube that can really help us start the day feeling fresh and ready to go, one really good one that we have been sharing with each other is: https://youtu.be/UdKZky4157o?si=4NX6Eng1awhNlW5f
